Atlas Mining Community Handicapped's Association (AMCHA) started in 1991 as a CSR of Atlas Mining Consolidated and Development Corporation. In 1994, Atlas Mining closed down and support for the PWDs dissolved.

Despite the closure of Atlas Mining, the group decided to stay intact as they wanted to enable the lives of other PWDs in Cebu province. In 1998, AMCHA became a founding member of the National Federation Community for Persons with Disability (NFCPWD). The group has become a partner of the Department of Education in providing school chairs for all generations of young students. Today, AMCHA is a social enterprise of PWDs in Cebu province providing wood, steel, plastic, and metal works to interested parties.

For the PWDs, AMCHA is more than an organization. It is a community that understands their challenges as it provides equal employment and livelihood opportunities to its 150 members.
